Yongzheng six-character marks, 19th century
Each enamelled with boys engaged in various
playful pursuits in a garden including playing
musical instruments, including one flying a kite
inscribed Qingshang fengmian (‘Celebrate and
appreciate the harvest year’), all between a
band of lotus petal panels enclosing beaded
strings above the foot and ruyi-head border
below the shoulder decorated with the babao 332
within cartouches against seeded ground
with foliate lotus blossoms, with the six-
character mark within a double circle on the
underside, with a further matched famille verte
domed cover, Kangxi, decorated with boys
at play, both covers including a boy holding
a loft a helmet (kui 魁), which is is a pun for
‘leader’, indicating first place in the Palace
examination, with an underglaze blue
bud-shaped finial.
The vases 33cm (13in) high
(without lamp fitting). (4).
