A LOTUS VELVET COVER; AND AN EMBROIDERED SILK HANGING
Circa mid-19th century
334 The cover centred with four large green blossoming lotus surrounded
by smaller blooms, all on a dense ground of curly-leafed scroll designs
on a coral ground, enclosed within a blue border of pale orange
meandering lotus, mounted in yellow silk, 159cm (62 1/2in) x 50.5cm
(19 7/8in); the ivory-ground silk sleeve-band finely embroidered with
cartouches depicting boys engaging in leisurely pursuits within garden
settings, framed within a border of bats interspersed with circular
cranes above a sequence of leaves, mounted with emerald green silk,
115cm (45 2/8in) x 26cm (10 2/8in). (2).

A CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER RECTANGULAR ‘DRAGON’ TRAY
19th century
Skilfully carved with a pair of confronted five-clawed dragons in mutual
pursuit of the flaming pearl of wisdom amidst cloud scrolls, the everted
sides carved with four dragons amidst dense foliate ground alternating
with foliate lotus blossoms at each corner, all reserved on leiwen
ground, the underside with dense foliate lotus sprays, raised on short
foot, the base and foot ring black lacquered.
37.7cm (14 7/8in) wide.
