Heavily cast in the auspicious form of a ‘Buddha’s
hand’, the gnarled branch issuing leaves forming
the handle and supports, surmounted by a
reticulated leafy cover with a smaller finger citron

Xuande six-character mark, 18th/19th century
The cylindrical vessel supported on three tapering
legs rising to the wide flat rim, the body decorated
588 in relief on the exterior with the Eight Buddhist
Emblems, bajixiang, on a geometric diaper
ground, with reddish-brown patina extending
over the rim, the base with the six-character mark.
13.4cm (5 5/16in) diam.

Xuande six-character mark, 17th/18th century
Of narcissus-bowl form, set on four ruyi feet,
with two confronted sinuous chilong clambering
at either end of the flattened everted rim, cast
apocryphal Xuande six-character mark to the
base. 17.5cm (6 7/8in) long.
