A WHITE JADE CARVING OF AN IMMORTAL
ON A RAFT
18th/19th century
The raft formed as a log with with curling branches,
knots and twisted root nodules a large peach at
the prow with an auspicious bat, behind the figure
steering the boat rests a large basket with sprays
of lingzhi fungus, the underside with finely incised
swirling waves, the stone of even pale-white tone,
wood stand. 9.3cm wide (3 5/8in) (2).
