A SILHOUTTE AGATE BOTTLE
1780-1880
Of rounded square shape with finely carved high-relief lion-mask
and fixed-ring handles on the narrow sides below the gently sloping
shoulders and cylindrical neck with wide opening and slightly concave
rim, all supported on a rounded oval foot ring with shallow cut
base, the semi-transparent misty stone with various dark moss-like
inclusions, perhaps suggestive of a seated beast near rockwork under
a moon or possibly a pomegranate.
