A PALE CELADON JADE ‘MONKEY’ GROUP
QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY

the monkey seated grasping a peach against its head with one hand,
portrayed with a wrinkled forehead and a slightly protruding spine with
finely incised hairs, its head turned towards a smaller monkey crouched by
its side with both arms stretched out in embrace, the stone of an even pale
celadon colour
