This Adibuddha with its characteristic crossed hands is seated
in lotus position on a lotus base, which is repeated on the
stepped pedestal with a sash on the front. In the crossed
hands are vajra (thunder bolt) and ghanta (bell), manifesting
the happy unification of opposites. Vajradhara wears
necklaces, jewelry with lotus blossoms on the ears, as well
as a pointed crown with a flaming pearl on the front. Both
scarf garlands with flaming, tall ends. The face with broad
forehead, wide eyebrows and lowered gaze, the expression
 altogether very contemplative and wise.
Engraved on the pedestal are ashtamangala, the eight
auspicious symbols of Buddhism. On the back of the pedestal
are the signs for the mantra ‘Om, mani padme, hum’. The
incised decoration on the clothing shows floral tendrils. Very
beautiful, dark-brown patina with green areas.
