                                                                                             a four-armed Vishnu on a
                                                                                             lotus base, considered to
                                                                                             be the great ‘preserve’ and
                                                                                             manifestation of goodness.
                                                                                             In the four hands are the
                                                                                             attributes indicative for this
                                                                                             god - the club gada and wheel
                                                                                             cakra, which is also a sun
                                                                                             symbol. The one lower hand
                                                                                             displays the gesture of ‘wish
                                                                                             fulfi llment’, varadamudra.
                                                                                             The other holds the attribute
                                                                                             shankha, a shell, symbol
                                                                                             for the origin of all life.
                                                                                             Both lowered hands rest on
                                                                                             lotus blossoms. Vishnu is
                                                                                             accompanied by two female
                                                                                             goddesses standing in
                                                                                             tribhanga, left is Lakshmi with
