A LARGE YING SCHOLAR’S ROCK

QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)

The vertically thrusting rock stands on a narrow base rising to the
top of the contorted stone. The concave sides are accentuated with
dramatic crevices, sharp ridges and deep pits that texture the surface.
The stone is of a blackish-grey tone with white calcite and russet
inclusions.
