Edo period
The bulging musculature of the wrathful figures highlighted by flared
scarves looping around their heads and gathered at billowing garments
cinched at the waist, one holding a vajra, one holding a staff, each
bearing a fierce expression with mouths open or closed forming the
Buddhist incantations A and Un respectively, carved onto elaborate
rocky plinths; now both fitted onto a modern pyramidal wooden
display stand.
