FOUR IVORY BRUSHPOTS, BITONG
17th/18th century
Comprising three brush pots decorated with scholars and their
attendants, variously in fenced gardens surrounded by billowing
clouds, playing the flute in a pine forest by the lakeside, and strolling in
a lingzhi-strewn pine forest, the latter with traces of pigment; the fourth
finely carved with sprays of lingzhi, magnolia and peonies issuing from
craggy rocks, three with wood stands.
The tallest: 14.5cm (5 3/4 in) high (7).
