The plain, gently rounded sides rising from a
short foot, stained a warm caramel coloured
hue.

For a small cup, dated early Qing, of slightly
more flaring shape but bearing the same
grooves at the rim and foot, see Chinese
Ivories from the Kwan Collection, Hong Kong,
1990, pl. 162, where the author suggests that
it may have been an Imperial ware made for
the Qing court.
