A SILVER AND WHITE JADE-MOUNTED
HAND MIRROR
19th century
The handle typically formed from a reticulated
jade belt hook, the reverse of the mirror
with an oval plaque carved in low relief with
a scholar and attendant under pine trees,
each piece mounted onto a silver frame
with incised floral decoration and bat-form
spandrels, box.

Of flattened quatrefoil form, flanked by
openwork handles shaped as scrolling foliage,
inlaid and suspended with pearls and fitted
with a colourful shrub of coral, turquoise and
hardstone flowers issuing from a blossoming
peony, surmounted by upright loop rings for
suspension, box. 9cm (4 3/8in) long (2).
