AN IVORY RECTANGULAR ‘PRECIOUS
OBJECTS’ PLAQUE; TOGETHER WITH
AN IVORY PENDANT AND CORAL
NECKLACE
The first, 18th/19th century; the second, 19th/
early 20th century
The plaque carved in relief with archaistic
vessels, scholar’s utensils and a jardiniere
of flowering peonies; the pendant carved
with a sage and boy attendant approaching
a scholar, before a dwelling set in a walled
garden, the necklace formed of entwined
strands of small coral beads.
The plaque 20cm x 10cm (7.7/8in x 4in). (2).

TWO ARCHAISTIC JADE PLAQUES
Early 20th century
Comprising: a black and green curved plaque,
decorated with taotie masks and a central
double-vajra; the reverse with c-shaped
designs, fitted box; a mottled grey and
green jade arched pendant terminating in
stylised, archaistic dragon heads; together
with a brown jade carving of two dogs; and a
serpentine figure of a seated Buddha holding
a vase of flowers.
The larger plaque: 15.5cm (6 1/8in) wide; the
smaller plaque: 8.7cm (3 3/8in) long (6).
