Song Dynasty
With gently rounded sides, the cover in the
form of a lotus leaf with stalk form finial, the
glaze falling short of the lower body and foot;
together with a large Jian ware ‘hare’s fur’
bowl with flaring rim, the lustrous thick black
glaze with russet streaking; and a smaller Jian
ware bowl, the glaze falling short of the foot to
reveal the cream buff body.
The large Jian ware bowl 18cm (7.1/8in) high.

JIXINGUAN
Song-Jin Dynasty, 12th-13th century
The elegantly potted vessel with inward
sloping sides, raised on a short, neatly
trimmed foot rim, all covered in a very pale
blue glaze thinning to a mushroom hue at the
rim.

thick transmutation glaze of a opalescent
sky-blue hue with lavender streaks, thinning
to mushroom at the rim, falling short of the

Song to Ming Dynasty
The conical vessel covered in a thick sky-
blue phase-separated glaze, thinning to a
streaky mushroom hue at the rim, the interior
and exterior with violet splashes, the glaze
stopping short of a small foot rim revealing the
brown biscuit.
