A FINE PALE GREEN AND RUSSET JADE
CARVING OF A MYTHICAL BEAST
17th century
The recumbent beast deftly carved in the round, the
head with protruding eyes beneath curling brows
and a single horn extending down the knobbly
back, turning sharply to the right, the dynamic body
accentuated with carved rib cage, and bifurcated tail
tucked between its hind legs and curling round its
right haunch, the stone of attractive honey-amber
tone with pale green underbelly.
