           黑漆彩繪描金團壽字穿花龍紋高束腰邊桌成對

Lavishly decorated with intricate designs of
blossoming flowers and writhing dragons, the
present tables appear to have been inspired by the
Imperial lacquer furniture of the 18th century. Under
the Yongzheng emperor, lacquered furniture became
popular as demonstrated in the number of extant
examples in the Qing Court Collection, Palace
Museum, Beijing. See a low table, Yongzheng,
illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures
of the Palace Museum. Furniture of the Ming and
Qing Dynasties, Hong Kong, 2002, no.143, in which
the top is painted in gold with washes of red with a
landscape centering on a lake scattered with small
islands with pavilions connected by bridges, the
waisted sides with shaped openings alternating with
           striding gold dragons.
