TWO YIXING TEAPOTS AND COVERS
20th century
The first of compressed form with a loop
handle and small spout, with a conical lid,
the base with impressed marks 一厂特艺班,
yichang teyiban, or Factory 1, and cyclically
dated yiwei year, corresponding to 1919; the
second teapot with a high neck and domed
cover, the base with a four-character seal
mark and cursive inscription. The largest:
16.5cm (6 1/2in) wide (4).

Siting impressed mark, Qing Dynasty
The red clay thinly potted in a typical pear
shape with well-rounded cover, the orange
peel-surface patinated to a rich reddish-
brown, the base of the handle incised
‘Siting’. 11cm (4 3/8in) wide (2).

Lu Siting was a famous potter from the early
Qing period. He was particularly renowned
for making pear-shaped teapots, such as the
present lot; this particular shape of Yixing
teapot was thus named after him.

The triangular section pot with moulded
sides with sprays of prunus, bamboo and
pine, with bands of wan motifs, key-fret and
flowerheads, flanked with bamboo-form
spout and loop handle, the lid with a three- 566
legged toad. 16cm (6 1/4in) wide (2).
