Cast in the U-tong style, the seated Buddha with a serene facial
expression, his curly hair arranged in tufts culminating in a flaming
ushnisha, the Buddha seated in the vajra position on a flat disc of
the Moon, his right hand in Bhumisparsa mudra, the right held palm
upwards in his lap in the pose of meditation. 119cm (46 3/4in) high

Ming Dynasty, 17th century
Wearing elaborately armoured robes and helmet, with a billowing
celestial scarf draped around his neck, the hands clasped together
before him, set on a wave and rockwork base, traces of gilt and
lacquered decoration remaining.
