AN INSIDE-PAINTED GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE EXHIBITED
SIGNED YAN YUTIAN, DATED YIWEI (1895) Boston, International Chinese Snuf Bottle Society Convention,
he Barron Collection, 23-26 September 2008.
One side is painted with two fgures seated in a pavilion looking out
over a river and village, beneath an inscription, yiwei Yan Yutian zuo,
followed by a seal, Yutian. The reverse is painted with a cat looking A bottle with similar subject and painted by Yan Yutian from The

A RED AND WHITE ‘THUMBPRINT’ CARNELIAN
SNUFF BOTTLE
1780-1850
The bottle is carved from stone of pale vermillion-red and creamy
white tone and left undecorated on the main sides to highlight the
attractive natural markings, the narrow sides are carved with mask
and ring handles.
