AN ENAMELED AND MOLDED PORCELAIN PROVENANCE
SNUFF BOTTLE Robert Hall, London, 1995.
JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1820-1880 Ruth and Carl Barron Collection, Belmont, Massachusetts,
no. 1863.
The bottle is molded in high relief with a sinuous iron-red dragon
on one side and a phoenix on the reverse, both on a ground of A nearly identical bottle with slightly lower relief from The Ruth
polychrome scrolling clouds and fames while pursuing a gilt and Carl Barron Collection: Part II was sold at Christie’s New York,
faming pearl. The base has an apocryphal Qianlong mark.

A BLUE-OVERLAY MILKY-WHITE GLASS
SNUFF BOTTLE
1750-1850
The transparent blue glass overlay is cut through to the translucent
milky-white ground on each side with a leafng branch bearing
a peach, pomegranate and citron (sanduo) below a bat.

The three fruits, peach, pomegranate and fnger citron represent
the sanduo (‘three plenties’), the three desires that are dear to the
Chinese heart.
