The appearance of fsh in Chinese art symbolizes abundance. The
current bottle contains three fsh, possibly conveying the wish for
abundance three times over.
Compare to a related agate bottle from the collection of George
and Mary Bloch, also utilizing the unique circular pattern of
the stone to create water life and gold fsh illustrated by Moss,
Graham, Tsang in A Treasury of Chinese Snuf Bottles, the Mary
and George Bloch Collection, Vol. 2, Part 2, Hong Kong, 1998,
pp. 404-407, no. 331.
