QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
the cylindrical body richly enameled with two aubergine
gnarled and craggy prunus trees issuing slender branches
with owers of incised white petals emerging from pale green
centers, all on a lustrous black ground between varying diaper,
keyfret, trefoil and oret bands, the neck similarly decorated,
the base with an elaborate white oral cartouche on a black
ground, wood stand (2)

Acquired in Boston, 1940s-60s, and thence by descent.

AN IRON-RED AND GILT BALUSTER VASE
QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
sturdily potted, enameled in pencil style, the rounded shoulder
with chrysanthemum blooms borne on a leafy meander
enclosed within alternating large and small lappets below a
diaper band and foliate scroll encircling the waisted neck, the
base with a band of upright lappets with an underglaze blue
double ring

QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
the slightly tapered sides rising to angled shoulder and
cylindrical neck surmounted by a dished mouth rim, painted
with scenes of warriors and gures in multiple spatial planes
above a lappet border encircling the foot, the shoulder with
auspicious objects reserved on a diaper ground below a row
of sti plantain leaves and multiple borders, the base with
apocryphal Chenghua mark
