ome with us,” a soldier said. “We will take you
to the royal palace. We have heard wonderful
C stories of your great queen, and our king will be
pleased to hear of her arrival.”
Together, the group marched to the palace, where
they found the king attending to government matters.
The leader of Solomon’s soldiers greeted the king and
was given permission to speak.
“My king,” he said, “these men are Ethiopian, and
they wish to give you a message from their queen.”
Solomon then spoke. “Greetings, dear brothers.
In the name of our God, I welcome you to our land.
Please tell me the message that you bring from your
honored queen.”
The Ethiopian spokesman answered, “King
Solomon, Queen Makeda, ruler of all Ethiopians,
brings you greetings from our people. She has traveled
to your land and wishes to enter Jerusalem.”
“Yes,” Solomon replied, “I have received reports that
your caravan was approaching Jerusalem. I understand
that you are being led by the most respected of
merchants, Tamrin. It is with great pleasure that I
receive the news of your queen’s arrival.”
