hree years later, Makeda

had grown quite tall and
beautiful. She was taller

than most females in the

T kingdom.

Her long arms and legs were like those

of the runners that competed in the
athletic games each year.

Makeda began to notice a weary look on
her father’s face. King Kawnasya seemed
to be growing old and tired. She knew that
he had worked hard to be a good king for
the country.

One day as Makeda was sitting alone in
the courtyard, Queen Ismenie approached
her and sat down for a talk. Makeda was
feeding fresh fruit to some small birds,
which were joyously flying around to
pluck the food from her hand. The sun
was brightly glowing through the trees.
