TotalEnergies takes FID on Lapa
South-West project offshore Brazil
TOTALENERGIES (France) revealed on Janu-
ary 16 that it had taken a final investment deci-
sion (FID) on Lapa South-West, a development
project targeting a section of the Lapa oilfield
within the BM-S-9A offshore block in the San-
tos basin.
In a statement, the French major said
it intended to spend nearly $1bn on Lapa
South-West.
It explained that the project envisioned the
drilling of three new development wells that will
be linked to a floating production-storage and
off-loading (FPSO) vessel that has been oper-
ating at the north-eastern part of the Lapa field
since 2016.
The FPSO, known as the Cidade de Cara-
guatatuba MV27, is about 12 km from Lapa
South-West, the company stated.
It has an oil-processing capacity of 100,000
barrels per day, a gas-processing capacity of
177mn cubic feet (5.012mn cubic metres) per
day and a water-injection capacity of 120,000
bpd, as well as a storage capacity of 1.6mn bar-
rels, it said.
