Enauta takes well offline at Atlanta

                         THE Brazilian independent Enauta Par-
ticipações said earlier this week that it had
suspended production at one of its three devel-
opment wells at Atlanta, an offshore oilfield in
                         the Santos basin.
In a statement, Enauta reported that the well
had gone offline on September 5 because of tech-
                         nical problems. Preliminary information indi-
cates that the shutdown may have resulted from
a failure in the underwater pumping system, but
the company is still working to determine the
exact cause of the shutdown, the statement said.
The well, which is part of the Early Pro-
