BILLY JOEL
“We shot in his museum/garage in downtown Oyster Bay called 20th Century Cycles. It is filled with more than 100 vintage bikes, some real classics. [Another] crew went first and were completely out of sorts. They were awkward with him and knocked lights over into some of
the bikes during their shoot. I was shocked and upset because they were negatively affecting his mood. He came over to our corner, and I popped on our music, playing the Cars’ “Just What I Needed.” Billy started to come around. I was lucky. I went to college with his daughter, and I mentioned I had met her a few times, and he said dryly, ‘I bet you never saw her in class.’ Even multi- millionaire dads hate wasting money on expensive private colleges.”
