                 THE EVER YTHING KNOTS BOOK

                                       Turk’s Head
This knot is known as a three-lead four-bight Turk’s Head because it
makes three turns around the bar and each rim has four bights. It can be
tied over the hand or around a cylindrical object. If tightened, the Turk’s
Head can serve as a binding. To use this knot in making a mat, widen one
of the rims while pushing the other to the center, making the knot flat.

1 Pass the running end twice around the bar, then over and under as
                     shown by the arrow.

2 Flip the right crossing over the left one.
