                 THE EVER YTHING KNOTS BOOK

                        FACT

Some pursuits have books published about them that are
entirely about the knots just for that particular activity. You
have probably seen books specializing in fishing knots, but
there are also specialty books on sailing knots, climbing
knots, magic knots, and many more. These books are not only
educational, but can also be a lot of fun, especially if you
already have a general understanding of knots.

                 Beyond These Pages

You might continue your learning of knotting because of a partic-
ular activity you are pursuing, or you might want to expand your
knowledge of a particular area introduced in this book, like loops
or hitches, for instance. This section will help you get the most out
of learning from your activities and give you a nearly chapter-by-
chapter rundown on how to go further with the concepts intro-
                 duced in this book.

                        ESSENTIAL

When the weather is too bad to enjoy a favored outdoor
activity, working with the knots used with your pursuit might
be an excellent substitute. If it is not a good day for fishing,
this may be the ideal time to work on that new fishing knot
                     you’ve been wanting to try.

The Best Rope for the Job
In Chapter 2, you learned how different ropes have different
advantages for a variety of tasks. New ropes are being produced
all the time, and whether you are into fishing, mountain climbing,
