This course simulates a professional news
writing experience. Students will learn about
writing for a specific purpose and be involved
in real-world production situations, requiring
them to display leadership, time management,
and collaboration. The course will explore
the writing process and the impact of text
features on written communication. Students
will learn how to produce an electronic
publication that includes pictures, links,
articles, and event coverage related to current
national and local news, school activities,
media reviews, and current topics. Enrollment
in this course will require students to work on
teams and to meet production deadlines.
Students must commit time outside of the
school day to complete projects and
assignments. This course satisfies the
communication graduation requirement and
is open to students in grades 10 through 12.
