The Picture of a Spiritual Life
We are not meant to live as though we are in charge of our lives, and
only us. The Bible talks about us ‘being bought with a price.’ That price
was Jesus on the cross — him dying for us so that he could live through
us.
Paul puts it this way in Galatians: “Christ lives in me. The life that
I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me
and gave himself for me.”
A Spirit-filled life means that we allow Jesus to direct our lives. We have
accepted him as God’s MESSENGER, and we believe and live his
MESSAGE, which is his gospel of ‘good news of good things’ – the
power of God that he brought us from his Father.
The gospel allows us to live in the blessings of God. God began by
blessing us in Genesis 1. We’re told in Acts and elsewhere that the
gospel is God’s means to bless us with all of his free gifts. Paul says he
even has the Holy Spirit show us anything we may miss. Then at his
ascension into heaven, it says Jesus left blessing us.
Living in the gospel is God’s way of blessing our socks off.
Some say they believe in Jesus, the Messenger, but they don’t even
know his gospel message, let alone believe and live it. Paul says that
Jesus is going to come back as he said he would, and when he comes he
will judge those who are not living the gospel God says he requires of
us. Paul also says that the secrets of our hearts (our beliefs) will be
measured by means of the gospel truth of Jesus.
‘The Vine and the Branch’
My thinking is that, if you receive a Messenger,
you must also receive his Message.
