Annual Family Mass & CookoutFive-hundred members of the Padua family joined us to celebrate our outdoor Annual Family Mass with President Fr. Allan DaCorte, ofm at Padua Stadium on August 19. On August 31, Padua launched the year with the annual Opening School Mass and Com-missioning in a wonderful celebration of our Fran-ciscan faith and community. It was great to gather around the Table of Our Lord to welcome the new members of the community along with the faculty, staf and students. Sixteen seniors were commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. We are grateful for their commitment, their faith, and their willingness to serve as role models to the community. One of the ways our community serves others is through our Prayer Blanket Ministry. Our former Campus Minister Deacon Bob Grgic started Padua’s Prayer Blanket Ministry in 2007. When we learn a student, parent, sibling, alumni or friend is ill, in need of encouragement or strength, we pray for them and send them a blanket. For more than a decade, the blankets have been blessed and prayed over by our students and faculty. Our blankets have comforted hundreds of people all across the country and the globe in their time of need or celebration. Blankets have been distributed for a variety of meaningful occasions: births, deaths, illness, weddings, etc. If you or someone you know who has a connection to the Padua community would like to request a prayer blanket (at no cost), call or email prayerblanket@paduafranciscan.com.
