“Silence!”
Spear Through My Heart
The queen silences the crowd with one word. I pull on my shackles, trying to break free, but when the queen notices I stop immediately. The queen initially appears kind, but she should not be angered. Unfortunately, the queen thinks I angered her, but I was only a bystander of a terrible crime.
The top general was murdered only a week ago, and I was a witness. While others rushed to help, I and a few others stood in shock. The culprit was masked, so we were the only suspects the guards could find. After the body was examined, a lock of blond hair was found on the dead general, and I was the only blond amongst the witnesses, meaning I am the prime suspect.
Today is my trial, which I am sure will be quick. I only wish that I will have a painless death, and that God will welcome me into heaven.
Now the evidence has been presented, and it is my turn to talk. My gag is removed, and I breathe in fresh air as I shortly plead for mercy and a quick death.
When I’m done, the queen speaks.
“Well,” she booms,“with this evidence in front of me, I have come to a conclusion: the suspect is guilty and shall be punished for the death of our general.”
I hang my head as she drives her spear through my heart.
