Application and Promotion Process: Internal Candidate

                   1. Completing the Intent to Advance

Candidates should submit an Intent to Advance form to their manager 2 to 6 months before application
and portfolio submission for the CN III or CN IV position.
The Intent to Advance form may be submitted to the manager even if a position is not currently posted in
                       iNFOR.

When reviewing the Intent to Advance, the manager and applicant will discuss readiness for advancement
and create a plan for any necessary professional development.

The nurse manager will keep a copy of the Intent to Advance form in the employee’s file. The employee
will keep the original and include it in their professional portfolio.

                   2. Building the Portfolio

After submitting the Intent to Advance, the candidate should begin assembling their portfolio and working

                          • 2 Recommendations to Advance from nursing colleagues
o For CN IV applications, 1 of the recommendation must be from the hiring manager.
o Additional letters of recommendation from nursing or interprofessional colleagues may
                                     be included, as desired.
