NPAS Committee Verification Process
CN III and CN IV portfolios will be accepted by the NPAS Committee at any time. Once submitted, NPAS
Administrative Support assigns the portfolio to an NPAS Committee member for review and verification. To
promote objectivity in reviews of internal candidates, portfolios are assigned to NPAS Committee members from
outside of the applicant’s service line.
Committee members assigned to review a portfolio will submit a decision within 14 days.
Portfolio Verification Outcomes
If the committee member verifies that the portfolio meets the Standards and Behaviors for the position, NPAS
Administrative Support will notify the hiring manager of the decision.
If the committee member is unsure or unable to verify that the applicant’s portfolio meets the Standards and
Behaviors of the desired promotion, they may do one of the following:
• Reach out to the applicant and/or manager to request revisions or additional information. After
requested revisions are received, the committee member will decide on the portfolio.
• Request a second review by another NPAS committee member. The second review will be completed
within seven days.
If critical pieces of information are absent from the portfolio, the committee member may return the portfolio
and confirm the applicant does not meet the Standards and Behaviors for advancement. The NPAS Chair emails
the committee decision to the hiring manager. If the candidate is not able to advance per the requirements, the
hiring manager is responsible for notifying NE/HR recruitment.
Note: Portfolios returned for missing critical pieces may be resubmitted by the candidate and department
manager at any time once revisions are made.
Compensation
Increases to pay will be made according to promotional level, as outlined below. In all cases, a greater increase will
be provided if necessary to meet the minimum for the job classification (determined by Nursing Employment (NE)/
Human Resources (HR) Recruitment).
• CN II to CN III Base Salary Increase - $1.93/hour
• CN III to CN IV Base Salary Increase - $2.93/hour
• CN II to CN IV Base Salary Increase - $4.86/hour
Annual Evaluation
After initial promotion to the CN III or CN IV role, the department manager is responsible for ensuring that the
nurse continues to meet the Standards and Behaviors of their clinical level through the annual evaluation process.
The CN III or CN IV need not reapply or resubmit a professional portfolio at any point unless seeking a new
promotional opportunity.
