Daedalus landed in Singapore with his drinking buddy Rudyard kipling in 1887 and
met a fine pair of gentlemen, the Sarkies brothers. As usual when the doctor is

involved, a night of gaming, girls and drunken debauchery ensued.
The Doctor, digging into his chest of liquors and grabbing some local fruit from a

palm, started concocting all kinds of wonderful drinks.
The night eventually came to a close and the four inebriated men tried to find a
bed for the night. Failing to find any form of decent accommodation in the
Colony & with a gallon of liquor inside them inspiration struck. The two

brothers hit upon the idea to open a hotel to beat all hotels, the Doctor vomited
in a hedge and the Author dreamed of talking animals.
The Doctor woke in the morning under a palm tree on the beach with the

recollections of singing pineapples, limes & cherries as well as one bastard of a
hangover…
