As a young man Daedalus journeyed across the far-east searching for good times &
exotic adventure. Landing on the shores of Japan he was greeted by the fearsome
Samurai headed by Saigo Takamori of the Satsuma Clan.
In short, a friendship was started as the warrior discovered a penchant for the
Doctor’s whisky and he in turn from Saigo learnt to appreciate Saki, bushido &

seaweed however he could never get his head around eating raw fish with sticks.
One night on an epic drinking session with the Samurai the Doctor’s eye was drawn to
an exotic Geisha girl walking amongst the plum trees in the moonlight. Her coy smiles
& backwards glances intoxicated the young Daedalus and he followed her away. A night
of passion ensued & at the end of which the Geisha whispered a warning in his ear

that there was a plot to overthrow the Samurai by modernists in the emperor’s
court. The Geisha then vanished in to the mists.
The Doctor rushed to Saigo’s side and told him of the encounter, relating the tale
causing the Satsuma Samurai to laugh at first until he got to the end at which the
Samurai cursed and said the Doctor had been visited by an ancient spirit with an
important omen. Saigo promptly gathered his men and bid his gratitude and farewells
to the Doctor giving him his favourite bushido practice sword & his finest Saki.

The Doctor thought the Warrior had overreacted a bit to his encounter of the
Geisha’s kiss & stolen night of passion, especially as he later heard of his friend’s part
in the Satsuma rebellion and the story of the last of the Samurai……….新政厚徳
