6. Save and Invest for the Future. The Bible says that the wise man saves for the future little by little
(Prov. 13:11). You need to have a savings goal and a giving goal. Give to the Lord first, and then give a
portion to yourself for your future and those for whom you care.
To be financially successful (not wealthy), you must live out these key
principles. Success is not a function of external circumstances, but it depends
on the Lord guiding your internal drive, motivation, and spirit. Do not blame
the circumstances you are in, but plan to do something to move forward as God
directs. It is your responsibility to find out what God has given you in your
heart to succeed. He has given you unique gifts and it is up to you to find out
about your gifts and use them to glorify God.
There is a Chinese proverb that says, “Somewhere there is always a taller mountain…” That means,
wherever you are in life, you are always ahead of someone else and always behind others. Do not focus
on where you are, but on where God wants you to go. Make up your mind to be successful and set
targets and goals and follow God’s direction in getting there.
To be successful, you must be willing to change. Dr. Mun, author of Managing Your Finances God’s
Way, comments, “Doing the same things means staying where you are always. To accelerate from
where you are, you need to change gears or you wear out the engine. The only constant in the universe

is change. If people and the world are changing, but you do not, you will be left behind.” God wants
us to be transformed continually and to change. So, start today. How can you be a different person
today than what you were yesterday?
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed (changed) by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and
perfect will
