Acts 16:1. Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy
lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek.

 When Paul left Lystra he took Timothy with him as a disciple, and Paul became like a spiritual father
                to him.

1 Timothy 1:2. To Timothy my true son in the faith.
2 Timothy 1:2. To Timothy, my dear son.

Philippians 2:22. But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with
his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.

                                      • Timothy became one of Paul’s fellow-laborers – a disciple.
Romans 16:21. Timothy, my co-worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason
                       and Sosipater, my fellow Jews.
1 Corinthians 16:10. When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while
he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
                                      • Timothy was a faithful representative and messenger.

1 Thessalonians 3:2. We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s
service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your
                       faith.

Titus 1:4. To Titus, my true son in our common faith.
Nothing is known about his conversion or his family other than that we know he was a
Gentile whom Paul refused to allow to be circumcised by those in Jerusalem as an
expression of the freedom of the gospel.
