God put us here on earth for a reason and purpose. He has a special plan for your life and certain
things He wants you to accomplish. When you have completed your course, then God will take you
home – no sooner and no later. We do know that God wants to use every believer to fulfill His plan
for redemption for all who will call on the Lord. He is not willing that any person should perish, but
that every person come to know Him as Savior and Lord (I Peter 3:9). To accomplish His plan in your
life, He requires one thing from us --- to be willing servants. He wants to make us into the image of
Christ so that when people see us, they see the Lord!

Have you ever heard the short poem?

You May be the only Bible some people read…
You may be the only Jesus some people see…

How you carry yourself as a committed believer in Jesus Christ is as important as what you say. Francis of Assisi
said, "It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching." Your life should be so
conformed to Christ that you act and talk who He is. Let’s see how important this is….

5.3 The Goal of Biblical Ethics: Living for the Glory of God

What is the goal of Human life?
David C Jones puts it right, “the goal of human life is God: his glory, his image, his kingdom, to
enjoy him forever.’’ The problem is that nobody naturally seeks God. Every Christian’s life-
                                           10
purpose must be to glorify God. This is the believer’s official calling. Everything we say and do, all
our obedience to God’s commands, all our relationships with others, all the use we make of the
gifts, talents, and opportunities that God gives us, all our enduring of adverse situations and human hostility,
must be so managed as to give God honor and praise for his goodness to those on whom he sets his love (1 Cor.
                                                  11
            10:31; cf. Matt. 5:16; Eph. 3:10; Col. 3:17).
