Teras – (“wonder”). It is the least common in the four Gospels (3 x) and occurs only once in
John’s Gospel (4:48). It points to the reaction of the crowd that witnessed the miracle.
Ergon – (“Work”)
The Synoptic Gospels record about 30 miracles that Jesus performed, but John included only 8 of them
(six that are unique to the Gospel).
Seven of John’s sited miracles use the word Semeion, because they explain who Jesus is. They point to
the incarnate Word who created the world – the Word that became flesh – the Son of Man – the Son of
God – the Messiah.
Let me ask you a question… Who, but God, could do these things?
2. Consider His Resurrection.
John 29: 27-29
27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my
side. Stop doubting and believe."
28 Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
29 Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not
seen and yet have believed."
And the greatest miracle of all…He came back to life again three days after being crucified.
Mary found the empty tomb
Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene
Jesus appeared to the eleven remaining disciples several times. Our reading was his appearance
with Thomas.
He was seen by over 300 witnesses.
Jesus’ resurrection explains loud and clear who He was and is….
The Very SON of GOD.
Let’s take a quiz….
