Unless a new believer is carefully taught and guided after conversion, he will embark upon a journey of
self-will and determination to live the Christian life. This self-will journey will only lead to disillusionment
and disappointment. Are you pursuing a system of dos and don’ts, rights and wrongs, rules and
regulations? One of the greatest discoveries you’ll ever make is that God didn’t invite you into a
relationship with Himself because of what you can do for Him; He invited you into a relationship with
Himself because He loves you. If what you are hearing resonates with your soul and you know you have
a relationship with Jesus, thank Him. Right now. Thank Him for inviting you into what you could never
earn: a personal relationship with Him. When we let go of the burden of “trying” we can experience the
blessing of rest and abiding in Him. Don’t you love that word? Rest!
