which He is so worthy, so that men should never think or speak of Him without the greatest veneration”.
One of the best ways to understand the glorious magnificence of God is to look closely at His character,
and to run into the various names, titles, and attributes of God. Proverbs 18:10 says, The name of the
LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. (It would be good to memorize this
verse) In appendix #1 you will find many names, titles, and attributes of God. When you begin to pray,
Hallowed be thy name You will begin to come to a new realization of the supremacy of God. Again, I
need to remind you that the God is not there primarily for our self-edification but is there for His glory.
As we run into the mighty names of God He is magnified, and He inhabits our praises. Go with me for
just a moment to appendix #1 and let’s spend a few moments running into the names, titles, and
attributes of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Let’s experience the supremacy of
God and His love for us, as we obey the word which teaches us to run into the name of God.

List the top 5 names, titles and attributes of God that had the most meaning to you?

               1.
               2.
               3.
               4.
               5.

Why did these names speak to you heart?

How will you use this exercise in your prayer life in the future?

Again, revival will never come to a nation without obedience. We pray and pray for revival, but it never
comes. Why? Because true revival is always proceeded by a revival of obedience. (see II Chronicles 7:14)
Notice where the word “then” occurs in this verse?

When you begin to run into the names, titles, and attributes of God you begin to awaken to just how
great God is. You begin to realize that He can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to... By this power He can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) A
new realization invades our thinking and we begin to look beyond our needs, our desires, and our wants. We
realize that there are kingdom opportunities that awaits us. These kingdom opportunities flood our desires
and we begin to pray not my will but thine be done. You realize that God’s glory is greater than your
problems… greater than your needs… greater than your fears… greater than anything you want to do for Him.
Begin your prayers with Hallowed be thy name, because the most important thing in prayer is that God’s
name be magnified and exalted. The purpose of the Lord’s Prayer is to set God in His rightful place in our
lives. It is not primarily about getting things. As you run into His name you will experience God reaching
down to touch you as you reach up to touch Him. The glory of the Father must be the aim and end, the
very soul and life of our prayers. Not unto us, o Lord, not unto us, but to Your name give glory. (Psalm
115:1) O magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together. (Psalm 34:3) May our light so
shine before men so that they can see our good works and glorify the Father. (Matthew 5:16)

The Westminster shorter catechism ask the question. What is the chief aim of man? The answer is that
the chief aim of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. Psalm 138:2 says, LORD, I will thank you
with all my heart; I will sing to you before the gods. I will bow down facing your holy Temple, and I will
thank you for your love and loyalty. You have made your name and your word greater than anything.
With this exaltation of God’s name comes a fulfilment to our own lives. We enter the joy of the Lord.
