Study Section 7: Prayer Nuggets
7.1 Connect
I live in Southern Nevada and from 1905 until 1910 there was a gold rush in a mountain range
called the Gold Buttes. (See Photo Below) This mountain range is made up of over 300,000
acres of very rugged mountainous terrain. Over 2,000 gold miners moved there with hopes of
finding a vein of gold. Today the town of Gold Butte is just a ghost town and all that remains
are just a few wild burros running wild, a few mine shafts that were abandoned, and some of
the machinery that they used in their mining process. Only when you go back into these mountains can
you really understand and appreciate Proverbs 2.
Proverbs 2:3-5 says the following, indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the
fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. These gold miners were willing to give everything they
had to find this hidden treasure in over 300,000 acres. (1,214 square kilometers or 468 square miles)
God has placed in the scripture’s prayer treasures. What I want to do in this section is to introduce you
to a few of these treasures that I have found. Please note that the search of these gold miners in the
Gold Butte Mountains only lasted for 5 years and then the miners thought that they had found most of
the gold that was to be found. However, the prayer treasures that are to be found in the scriptures will
never be exhausted. I hope that this introduction to mining prayer nuggets will cause you to develop a
lifelong journey into trying to find all of the gold, silver, and hidden treasures that are to be found in the
Biblical Mountain of God.
