Study Section11:  Do the fossils support evolutionary theory or
                                                  validate the flood?


               11.1 Connect.

                          If you build a house, you must gather building material to a location.  You need cement,
                          sand, blocks, metal sheets for the roof, doors made from wood or metal, plastic pipes for
                          drainage, and so on.  You can only create something out of materials already existing.  You
                          cannot simply go to the job site and create a house out of NOTHING.  But that is what God
                          did.  How is that possible.  Today, we will see what a power Creator God is.


               11.2 Objectives.

                      1.  The student should be able to describe the process of fossilization.  You should be able to
                      explain how the process occurs.


                      2. The student should be able to explain the Geological Column created by evolutionary scientists
               and see how it is a fabrication to confuse millions of students learning about geology.

               3.  The student should be able to state two hypotheses:  if evolution is true, what should the fossil
               record look like and if cataclysmic creationism is true, what should the fossil look like.

               11.3 Do the fossils support evolutionary theory or validate the flood?

                        Introduction

                        When Darwin wrote his “Origin of Species”, relatively few fossils had been unearthed and none
                        had given even a shade of proof of his theory.  Now, over 160 year later, scientists have
                        unearthed millions of fossils and still none can be identified as an intermediate life form
               between the major plant and animal groups.

               Darwin and his contemporaries were aware of this problem with the fossil record some 160 years ago,
               but they believed that the fossil record had been insufficiently sampled up to that time.  Their “belief”
               was that paleontological research in the future would more adequately sample the fossil record and
               show it to be more in line with evolutionary theory.  They were wrong!  Exactly the opposite
               happened.  After a century and half of excavating fossils from the strata we have found the problem to
               be worse, not better.  Contrary to the tree of life depicted in the school books, the fossil record depicts
               exactly the opposite story.  The tree of life is an inverted cone and not a tree at all.

               Today, let’s examine the fossil record to see what is revealed.  Before we deal with fossils, however, we
               must first understand how fossils are formed and once found, how scientists date them.

               The Process of Fossilization

               Fossilization is the process by which plant and animal remains are preserved in sedimentary rock.  Some
               organisms were buried intact quickly and their remains are the best preserved. Others, were buried
               after they had suffered some decay and breakup. Their remains are usually found in beds of jumbled
               bone of all types and different species.
