Since there is no record of vast eons in these rocks, and the only answer to the mystery of fossilized soft
tissue matches the account of catastrophe already given in God’s Word, perhaps it is time to discard the
unfounded and outdated concept of long geological ages. (Morris, H.M. 1976. Up with Catastrophism!

Missing Links in the Fossil Record
16.4 Let’s Practice…
1. why does the defense system of a tiny bombardier beetle demonstrate that he could not
possibly have evolved.
2. A fossilized octopod gives what evidence about the time fossilization takes?
3. What does a fossilized octopod demonstrate about the flood?
16.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…
Think about it. God created everything in six days. How much time in a day do you suppose it
took for God to create all He did in that day? Did he work on creating for 8 hours during each
day? Perhaps He worked overtime on day 6, because not only did He have to create all the
land animals, but complex man. The Bible gives us a hint into the time He spent each day
creating.
Psalm 22:8-9 says, “Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of
Him. For He spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” The Bible says God spoke,
and it happened…instantly. God may have spent seconds each day creating the vast array of the
universe. On day 4, God created the sun, moon, and all the stars. We can probably extend His creative
acts to all other stars and galaxies. There are about 10 billion observable galaxies in the universe.
Assuming there are about 100 billion stars per galaxy (no one has actually counted them), there are
