5. We do not build a Biblical doctrine of what a historical character did or did not do in the Bible. I do
not plan on building any Bible doctrine based on his life.

               6. Organize your information in logical sequences and decide how much to teach at one time.

I plan to start by asking the question, “When your time comes to depart this life, will you be missed?”
“How many people will come to your funeral?” or when you depart, will people say to themselves,
“Good riddance!” “Are you living your life investing in others, or are you pretty much living your life to
gratify your own desires and interests?” To a degree, the more you invest your life in others, the more
they will miss you when you are gone.

We will then look at the sad life of Jehoram, listing how he rebelled against God. The Bible says in
Galatians 6: 7 Do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked; a man reaps what he sows.
Then we will look at the consequences God brought to Jehoram as a result of what he sowed: rebellion.
I want to use Jehoram’s life as an example of how NOT to live.

I also want to emphasize that, in spite of Jehoram’s elevated position as King of Judah, the sad
commentary that, “He passed away at no one’s regret…” is a life wasted. What a depressing
               observation on a life.

Finally, I want to emphasize that the people of Judah refused to bury him in the tombs of the kings, but
rather isolated him. The tomb of the kings is evidently a place where notable kings were buried, kings
like David and Solomon. Many of the kings were buried with their ancestors, which was a step down in
honor. But to be buried in an un=described location in Jerusalem was a permanent statement regarding
               the life the person lived.

               7. During your presentation, try to make your character come to life! I will do everything I can think of
to help the class understand the degree to which this man defied God. Then I plan to ask the class, “in
what areas of your life do you oppose God?” We will look at areas in our lives that we have difficulty
giving over to the Lordship of Christ.

               8. Evaluate the results of your study. I will observe the response of the class when we consider
               personalizing the lesson.

               9. Save your lesson for future presentations. I plan to save this lesson for future use.
