The Days of Christ

In the days of Christ, Israel was
divided into five major areas. To
the north was Galilee, a major
               location of Jesus’ ministry. There
he was raised in Nazareth and
there was his home base in
               Capernaum. Many events
               occurred around the Sea of
               Galilee.

               South of Galilee was Samaria.
               Jews normally did not travel
               through Samaria as the Samaritans
               and Jews considered one another
               as enemies.

               South of Samaria was
               Judea/Idumea where Jesus also
               ministered. John the Baptist was
active here at the Jordon River
which flows from the Sea of
Galilee to the Dead Sea, north to
               south. Jerusalem was the most
               important city in Judea.

Perea was located on the east side
               of the Jordon River. Jesus
               ministered there retreated to
Perea for safety from the Jewish
               leaders in Jerusalem.

The Decapolis were ten cities of the Greeks and was also a place where Jesus healed and preached the
               Gospel.

For an excellent tour of the Holy Land, click on the link below to watch a one-hour tour of Israel filmed in
4k and using a drone (on Youtube). It offers an excellent view of the Holy Land today, but the narration
relates all the sites back to the events and people of the Bible. Also, view another tour below.
