them. He prayed that God would gift them with joy and peace in their relationships with each other
because, with the help of the Holy Spirit, each faction was believing in same hope that God had revealed
to them through His Word.
May the God who is able to strengthen you to believe the gospel of Christ which was revealed by the
mystery of God’s revelation to you through the Scriptures receive great glory from what He is doing in you
and through you.
Romans 16:25-27
25 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus
Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26but has
now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations,
according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— 27to the
only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen.
In the postlude of this letter Paul took care of saying many final things that needed to be said. He told the
Romans churches why he wrote to them (15:14-29); he asked them to pray for and with him about
specific matters (15:30-33); he commended Phoebe as the faithful servant who carried the letter to them
(16:1-2); he greeted all the individuals whom he considered partners in ministry whom he believed to be
in Rome (16:3-16); he gave a final warning (16:17-20); he conveyed greetings from his ministry team in
Corinth (16:21-24); and he ended with a concluding doxological blessing (16:25-27).
That final blessing presents us with the doxological conclusion to the whole letter. With it Paul publicly
commended them to the care of their Savior, Jesus Christ. With it he encouraged them to have an
obedience to the commands contained in the letter that would display their trust in Christ unto all the
nations of the world so that He would be glorified in them.

16.5 Let’s personalize this Lesson…
Activity: A doxology is a way of making a final statement of importance or a conclusion to what
was previously expounded. We have looked at Paul’s doxologies spread throughout the book of
Romans. Now it’s your turn. Write a doxology about concluding your course in Romans. Include
in it what you have learned and how you have been challenged to put it into practice in your life.
Write out your doxology:
